EMC is currently in the process of establishing an SME-focused investment fund – the Cambodia-Laos Development Fund (CLDF).
CLDF will invest in promising, "new economy" companies with principal operations in Cambodia and/or Lao PDR, with strong commercial opportunity and socially responsible and dynamic management. Initial opportunities in the business services, agriculture/agri-business and microfinance sectors have been identified, although the fund will pursue deals opportunistically, across a number of other sectors.
CLDF will be managed by Emerging Markets Investments, a fund management company to be established, which will leverage the in-depth local market knowledge, extensive business and government networks and private sector expertise of EMC. EMI will invest in and actively support CLDF’s portfolio companies through extensive post-investment advisory and business development activities.
